YOUR RECIPE, YOUR QUANTITIES

Calculate nutrition for your homemade recipe

Build your dish from the ingredients you actually use. See estimated nutrition for each ingredient, the whole batch and an equal serving.

How to build a recipe

  1. Open Recipes and choose Create recipe, or search for a missing dish and choose Create my recipe.
  2. Name your dish and set the number of equal servings.
  3. Add each ingredient and the quantity used in the whole batch. Include cooking oil, sauces and toppings.
  4. Check whether the reference ingredient is raw, dry or cooked. Match it to what you measured.
  5. Review the totals and save the recipe to your account.

Ingredient names that fit your location

The ingredient picker starts with your profile country. For example, India shows besan and coriander leaves, while USA shows chickpea flour and cilantro. Local and English search aliases help you find the same reference. You can switch the ingredient location without changing your account country.

How servings are calculated

Each ingredient’s reference nutrition is scaled to the amount used. Ingredient values are added for the batch, then divided by the number of equal servings. A four-serving recipe gives one quarter of the batch nutrition per serving. Water loss during cooking changes weight, so one serving is not assumed to weigh 100 grams.

Understand the estimate

Reference ingredients currently use labeled USDA and UK CoFID data; local names do not make those values measurements of Indian varieties. Missing or trace values are shown as unavailable rather than invented. If an ingredient is absent, use manual entry with a known nutrition basis.

Different ingredients, cooking losses and uneven serving sizes affect the result. See our data sources and portion guide.
